Western Women’s Fashion History from 1880-1930
This is a fun academic blog for all who love fashion and history (and those who don’t know it yet). Follow the progress of American & European women through the lens of fashion during this period as I post my research here.
Why this period? These 50 years are unprecedented in their dramatic changes for women in terms of dress and social change, not to mention the astounding technological advancements.
As I sift through books, academic journals, magazines, and other sources, I aim to gain a better understanding of the women who lived during this period and how their clothing related to the political, social, and technological changes happening in the world around them.
Femme Fashion Forward blogger, Danielle Morrin, graduated from the Fashion Institute of Technology, where she obtained her MA in Fashion & Textile Studies: History, Theory, Museum Practice. Danielle currently works as an Archivist and Fashion Historian.
